Here We Part

Description

Oil-based paint. 3 hours. Collaborative work by Quinn Wilson & Anya Eber.

I) On Painting in General:
As per my most recent poll, I asked what alternate medium you might be interested in beyond photography. The substantial lead was "Branch out a little. Try painting or something". This "none of the above" response surprised me, as I have never submitted anything to demonstrate my skills as a painter, and none of you, even my good friends, have never seen any work in this area, namely because I've never really done it before.
However, surprised that I may have been, I'm not one to disappoint the masses (if you can count the seven people that voted for this as "the masses"), nor am I one to back away from a challenge, particularly in the artistic realm. SO here you are.

II) On This Particular Painting:
This piece was done in Washington DC as a parting gift to my wonderful girlfriend. We're at our own colleges now on different ends of the country, but while the distance presents an obstacle, it isn't one we cannot overcome. We worked on this painting together, though I guided her through the techniques, and instructed her as we progressed. Thus the style is uniform, though two hands aided in its completion: Mine on the right, hers on the left, until we both reached the center.
Symbolism abounds, though most is either personal enough or obvious enough that I won't present a full analysis of our work here. Just know that as I branch out in the methods of my art, so do I in my relationship, and though it hangs in her dorm sever thousand miles away, I don't need a digital copy for it to remain clear in my mind.

I really like this, it shows that you are not only willing to branch out to new styles, but also your willingness to try new mediums and work in collaberation with other artists. It's a really well done piece. has a lovely feeling to it. I can only imagine the different pieces of symbolism and what their various meanings could be.
